Another day brings more mean-spirited Republican thuggery
Aren't decent Americans fed up with this already?
MAGA moron Mike Johnson rounded up a posse of his Republican colleagues to go down to the Texas border and puff their chests out about illegal immigration.
Their stunt didn’t come off as they planned. There were only a few people trying to cross the border—which undercut their “hordes are coming to rape us” hysteria that they whip up around election time.
Remember the “caravans of illegals” that Trump made up? They never arrived, of course. Immigration is a useful fear for “conservatives” because their supporters are usually racist and xenophobic.
This is not to say that there isn’t a problem, especially at the southern border. But it’s blown out of all proportion by the hysterical “conservatives” trying to keep their vote-totals up.
The Biden administration has deported more people this year than Trump ever did. Some of the Democratic base won’t like to hear that. And, of course, “conservatives” will never hear it because it causes too much cognitive dissonance for their uncritical brains to process.
The real reason that immigration is broken is the same reason why everything that is broken is broken. It’s “conservatism.” Nothing can be done about immigration because “conservatives” won’t participate in government. Instead of coming to the table to compromise and work out solutions, Republicans prefer to take hostages and try to get everything they want. And everything they want is invariably selfish, stupid, and destructive.
This has been going on since Newt Gingrich adopted the hostage-taking model in the early 1990s. It’s not the way real government is supposed to work, but then “conservatives” are not interested in real government any longer—if they ever were.
Young people don’t seem to have enough perspective on the past to understand why so many things aren’t working for them with our current government. And they seem to be taking the easy way out rather than getting clear about the problem and solution. “A pox on both their houses” seems to be a growing chant among the young.
So let’s make this easy—as easy as throwing up one’s hands and “voting for change,” which is really voting for chaos.
Everything that is wrong with government, everything that frustrates you because Washington is broken—gun violence, student debt, income inequality, abortion access, threats to voting rights, and so forth—none of those things can be remedied because Republicans refuse to be legitimate partners in the compromise of good government.
Instead, they insist on getting everything they want, and they are willing to cause any amount of damage to the whole nation in the attempt. “Shut down the border or shut down the government,” one of the congress-morons on the trip to Eagle Pass said on camera.
Government by ransom is not real government. But it is Republican government.
Why does knowing this make life easy? Because the answer to all the problems we currently have is a simple thing. Just take away power from Republicans.
Get them out of the way, and suddenly real government returns. Even with them in the way, Biden has managed incredible feats of real government in the past three years.
Republicans did everything they could to increase the deaths and dangers of COVID. Biden shut it down after Trump let it burn.
Biden turned the economy around in just three years despite the dire predictions of many economists that it would take longer and take a recession to do it. In the process, he proved, once again, the superiority of Keynesian economics to any form of “conservative” economics—which is just selfishness hiding behind academic jargon.
Biden got manufacturing going again in the US after decades of stagnation with his infrastructure bill—something that Trump could never have hoped to do given his abysmal stupidity and demonic selfishness.
Biden has helped out oldsters with new caps on out-of-pocket Medicare spending. This is the kind of thing that Republicans are allergic to.
Biden tried really hard to get relief on student spending. But he was stopped by—guess who—Republicans.
These are just a few of Biden’s real government achievements, which he pushed through even though Republicans have no interest in real government.
And none of this even touches on the most significant benefit Biden achieved on day one of his administration—he has prevented, so far, the Republican party’s frightening attack on democracy.
So let’s get real folks. Republicans are threatening to destroy American democracy in favor of “conservative” autocracy. There’s no doubt about it. They’s already given up on real government because it won’t get them everything they want. Now they realize that they will never get everything they want if they don’t destroy democracy and install a “conservative” dictator before they become too small a minority to steal elections.
So now is the time to stop them. And the easiest way to get it done is to get behind Biden, grow his vote margin to more than the 7,000,000 by which he beat Trump last time, and rout the autocratic Republican party one more time.
Because this one more time will be the last time. One more loss and the Republican party will be a spent force.
Crush Republicans and vanquish the dark side of the force once and for all.
It’s that simple.
