As you know, I’ve been writing a series of posts devoted to debunking the entire belief-system of “conservatism” by refuting every one of the “ten principles” invented by Russell Kirk, who was as much the founder of modern “conservatism” as anyone could claim to be. (Check out my last post for links to all the previous ones in the series.)
Now, at the halfway point, having composed five of these rebuttals, I thought I would take a break to explain why I am writing this series.
I know the posts are long. I know that they often belabor points that decent, thinking people regard as obvious truths. That is because “conservatives” belabor their falsehoods.
But it is important to demonstrate, I think, that nothing at all that “conservatives” claim to be “beliefs,” “ideas,” or “principles” deserves the slightest consideration. Everything they espouse is wrong. Everything they assert is false. Even the truths to which they give lip service only appear in their arguments deceptively.
For far too long, we have allowed “conservatives” to pretend that they possess a defensible world view. The press treats their ungrounded and incoherent statements as if they were legitimate rather than laughable.
This series aims at demolishing each and every “conservative belief.” When it is complete, there will be no reason left for any decent person to give heed to anything that conservatives say.
I do not flatter myself that a complete rebuttal of “conservatism” will have any effect on “conservatives.” They have deeply selfish ulterior motives for every false assertion.
But I do think that decent people, once they know that “conservatives” have not a single good reason for any of their “beliefs,” will simple stop listening to them—not argue with them, not debate with them, but just stop listening to them.
And then we will be on the shortest path to American rebirth—a period during which “conservatives” no longer have the ear of the public, no longer have their votes, and ultimately no longer have the power to keep wrecking the nation’s political health.
We don’t need to convince “conservatives” to abandon their selfishness. We don’t even need to convince independents to reject “conservatives.” We only need to get decent people to stop listening to “conservatives” and start voting for the opposite of whatever they want.
So I’ll continue knocking the supports out from under “conservatives” until every last one is gone.
Maybe it will help to put an end to the damage they are doing.
