The predilection toward criminality among “conservatives”
“Conservatives” are natural criminals. As I have explained at length in my book Conservative Estimate, their innate and deeply rooted fear of loss pretty much forces them to cast ethics aside when their personal advantage is at risk.
This tendency makes them, generally speaking, unethical when it comes to difficult decisions that require courage and the willingness to lose something they care about. That is why Republicans are willing to say and do nearly anything to win or at least not to lose. And once you’ve given up ethics to that extent, crime is not a problem.
In fact, the only thing that reins in “conservatives” seems to be the threat of punishment. When Republicans got worried that they would go down with Trump because of January 6, they started talking Trump down and breaking with him. But after a short while, when it looked like there would be no consequences for the insurrection, they all came scurrying back to the Trump cesspit to suck his waste products.
There is no comparison between the parties when it comes to crime
Compared to Republicans, Democrats are saints.
Nixon was a self-dealing crook who defied the Constitution and hired thugs to send against his “enemies.” Clinton was a skirt chaser.
The Reagan administration had more members indicted for crime than any other administration in history. The Obama administration was squeaky clean.
The Cheney administration (using W. as front man) was a bunch of grifters and torturers. The Biden administration is without scandal to speak of.
But Trump was the master criminal of all Repuliblican presidents. He ran the first racketeering presidency in American history. The list of his crimes puts him in the Vito Corleone league. There is no Democrat, even among those with ethical laspes that shade toward criminality, to compare in any way with the illegal propensities of Republicans.
Whataboutism is the only strategy Republicans use to downplay their crimes
Because Republicans are so inclined to crime, they try to make it look like Democrats are criminals too.
Of course, I’m not saying there is no criminality among Democrats. They occasionally get nailed for grift or other kinds of corruption.
But when you look at the comparisons, Republicans are just super-criminals when you put them up against Democratgs side-by-side. Hunter Biden did some influence peddling off his father’s name. That’s bad. But Jared Kusher and Invanka grifted billions on the basis of their nepotistic government jobs. That’s downright demonic.
The only tool Republicans have to distract from their pronounced criminal tendencies is whataboutism. Nixon had thugs break the law for him. “But what about Clinton’s philandering?” Reagan ran a corrupt administration that broke government in many ways. “But what about Obama wearing a tan suit and bowing to the Saudis?” Cheney and W. lied us into war and set up secret torture sites around the world. “But what about Hunter Biden?”
What about Hunter Biden? What he did while he was a crack addict was bad.
But what about Republicans? What they do is much, much more criminal than anything Democrats ever do—because they have nothing resembling ethics, only deep-rooted fear that breeds selfishness, greed, and lust for power.
If we don’t turn them out of government soon, decent America will be sleeping with the fishes.
